This course is a joint venture between Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and the University of Wolverhampton designed to support the training of biomedical scientists (BMSs) wishing to extend their current role in histological tissue dissection.

It is suitable as an introductory course both for BMSs wishing to develop their practice as well as for those taking the Royal College of Pathologists/ Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Diploma - Expert Practice in Histological Dissection.

The course will be delivered by Consultant Histopathologists Dr. N Salmons, Dr. A Pugh, Dr. U Karnik, Dr. K Robson who between them have a wealth of experience with a range of different specimen types. In addition to the Consultant Lecturers, Sharon Dicken, Pathology Services Manager, Walsall Manor Hospital and Karen Kendall, Senior Biomedical Scientist at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton will provide lecturers on areas such as Health and Safety, Governance and Portfolios.

Delivery and training will be provided over five days in state of the art facilities. The course includes lectures and allows ‘hands-on’ dissection practice, to ensure delegates develop the required knowledge and skills for their role. Additionally, Lecture Capture provides delegates with reusable resources of dissection demonstrations to support their continued learning.
